About Coach Karen
Karen Hendrix MBA is a Certified Business Life Coach who helps small business owners and managers in the transformation from having their business control their lives to making business a part of their lives. She specializes in improving the “bottom line” of their business as well as their lives through effective processes and communications. Her passion for helping individuals manifest their dreams, their gifts and their fullest potential makes her a powerful partner as a coach.
Coach Karen uses 25 years of business management, personnel and patient relations in the field of aesthetic plastic surgery to build a common language of success with her clients. She works with individuals in group settings as well as one-on-one coaching settings. A qualified professional business life coach is certified with a reputable accrediting institution approved by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), which is the regulating organization for professional coaches. As credentials are very important when selecting a business life coach, Karen has been certified by the Coach Training Alliance (CTA) since May 2006 and has focused her main interest in working with small business owners and specialists utilizing widely recognized assessment tools such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), internal marketing procedures and other effective communication tools.
A native of outlying metropolitan Kansas City, Karen Hendrix earned her B.A. in Psychology from William Jewell College in 1990, completed her coursework and practicum at Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) for the Clinical Psychology master’s program from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1990 thru 1994, and earned her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Baker University in 2001.

She has a grown daughter Denise, is the Noni (cooler version of grandma) and actively involved with Tyler and Landon the five-year-old and newborn loves of her life. Even though she has spent most of her adult life in middle class suburbia, Coach Karen has a love for the country where she grew up with her parents who are still living on their farm in the Midwest. She has many close friends and a four-legged family member named Leo.
She earned her B.A. in Psychology, her M.B.A., studied in Oxford, England for a semester through an honors program, and completed her coursework and practicum at MOCSA for a Master’s in Clinical Psychology as a single parent while working full-time as business manager in multiple specialty surgical practices, particularly aesthetic plastic surgery. Coach Karen’s personal, educational, professional and spiritual life experiences have given her a solid foundation and a strong conviction that one can achieve that which one can conceive while leading a balanced life.
Coach Karen finds much satisfaction in her chosen profession and in her interaction with clients. She also experiences a deep fulfillment in volunteer work in the community at large through her home church, North Star United Methodist. She has been involved in leading Alpha, Small Group Ministry leadership, Spiritual Gifts Discovery coaching, Grand Avenue Temple’s Lazarus Table feeding the homeless and Hillcrest Ministries Walk for the Homeless. She has worked extensively with Medical Aid for Children of Latin America, organizing the missions and traveling to the Dominican Republic to provide care to those in need.
